The NCC is based on the ideals of comradeship, character building and leadership of the youths. The year 2014 saw the good number of enthusiastic students’ enrolment in 4 & 5 Bengal NCC units in the college. As part of NCC training, cadets participated in Combined Annual Training Camp, special camps, ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate camps etc. NCC cadets participated in the following activities:

1. 67 th Independence Day Celebration (15/08/2014): Independence Day Celebration Committee, Kurseong Municipality had organized Independence Day programme on 15/08/2014 at Monteviote ground. NCC cadets actively participated in the march past and as parade commander. 100 cadets along with one faculty attended the programme.

2. Blood Donation Camp (20/11/2014): Blood donation camp was organized in the college to celebrate 66 th NCC foundation day. 12 cadets donated blood and gave a social message to all.

3. Swaach Bharat Abhiyan (21/02/2015): NCC cadets took the initiative to clean Kurseong town as part of Swaach Bharat Abhiyan. 35 cadets participated in this cleanliness drive.

4. 1 st International Yoga Day (21/06/2015): 4 & 5 Bengal BN NCC units organised the 1 st International Yoga Day in the college itself. 100 students along with 10 faculty members and other NCC PI staffs participated in the programme.

5. Environmental Awareness Programme: 22 NCC cadets participated in the environmental awareness programme organised by NSS units of the college.

With the motto of Unity and Discipline, 4 and 5 Bengal BN NCC units of Kurseong College started the year with much fervour and zest. Smt. Namrata Rai, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography and Shri. Benoy Kishore Rai, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology took the charge of NCC 4 & 5 BN respectively as the new CTOs.

The NCC cadets actively organised and participated in the following programmes:

1. 68 th Independence Day Celebration (15/08/2015): Like every year, 100 NCC cadets along with one faculty member actively participated in the Independence Day celebration in Kurseong. The NCC cadets led the entire parade as the parade commander and pilots. 4 & 5 Bengal BN march past contingents saluted the national flag and honoured the sovereignty of the country. The teaching and non-teaching staffs along with NCC cadets and Teacher-In-Charge observed the Independence Day in the college campus. Teacher-in-Charge, Smt. Tara Lohar hoisted the flag. She recalled the sacrifices of the martyrs and emphasised on the duties of each and every citizen towards the country. The flag hoisting programme in the college ended with the distribution of packet lunch and sweets to all.

2. 67 th NCC Foundation Day (28/11/2015): NCC foundation day was celebrated in the campus ground. Teacher-in Charge Smt. Tara Lohar hoisted the National Flag and congratulated all
CC cadets and staffs. The cadets performed patriotic and cultural dances and songs. The ex-NCC cadets were also felicitated for their contribution towards NCC.

3. Camps: Camps are integral part of NCC. Many cadets participated in CATC, ATC, and Special Camps etc.

3. Swaach Bharat Abhiyan: 32 NCC cadets participated in Swaach Bharat Abhiyan organised by NSS.

5. AIDs Awareness: 75 NCC cadets organised and programme in co-operation with NSS.

6. Anti-Human Trafficking Awareness Programme: Anti Human Trafficking Awareness programme was organised by NSS and 120 NCC cadets participated in this programme.

7. Red Ribbon: 54 NCC cadets took part in Red Ribbon programme organised by NSS.

8.Campus Cleaning: As part of Swaach Bharat Abhiyan, students and cadets were encouraged to keep college compound clean. The NSS unit initiated this campus cleaning programme and 55 NCC cadets actively participated.

1. Felicitation Programme (04/07/2016) : Kurseong College NCC felicitated Miss Trishala Gurung and Miss Sulakshana Tamang who had successfully reached the summit of Mt. Everest as the team members of NCC. The programme was organised in the Town Community Hall by Kurseong Gorkha Hills Sports Association (KGHSA), Kurseong on 4 th July 2016. Smt. Namrata Rai and four NCC senior cadets attended the programme.

2. 69 th Independence Day Celebration (15/08/2016): Every cadet wishes to participate in the Independence Day march past. It is a matter of great pride and service in the life of a cadet. This year also 100 cadets along with one faculty participated in the celebration programme. The college, school toppers and achievers in other fields were felicitated in the programme by the MLA and IDCC (Independence Day Celebration Committee). Matap Shankar, B.Sc (Mathematics Honours) from our college was felicitated for scoring highest marks in the college.

3. 68 th NCC Foundation Day (26/11/2016): 68 th NCC Foundation Day was celebrated in the campus ground. 60 NCC cadets and 2 CTOs were present for the programme. The cadets presented patriotic songs and dances. Shri. Benoy Kishore Rai, CTO 5 Bengal BN congratulated cadets for their performances in different activities.

4. Special Camps: Besides regular camps, two cadets from 4 Bengal Girls Batallion got the opportunity to attend two special camps. Cadet Swastika Thapa attended Introductory Snow Skiing Camp in Jammu from 20/03/2017-27/03/2017 and Cadet Divya Khati attended Republic Day Camp in the month of January 2017 in New Delhi. Cadet Kusum Sharma also attended National Integration Camp at Bolpur from 13-24 th October 2016.

5. Swaach Bharat Abhiyan: 20 NCC cadets participated in the Swaach Bharat Abhiyan initiated by NSS units of the college.

1. Communal Harmony Campaign week (19/11/2017-25/11/2017): NCC observed communal harmony week from 19 th to 25 th November 2017. 80 NCC cadets propagated the message of communal harmony by distributing stickers with a message.

2. Blood Donation Awareness Rally and NCC foundation Day (25/11/2017): 4 Bengal Girls Battalions Kurseong College and Ramakrisha Girls’School organised blood donation awareness rally from Kurseong Railway Station upto Tourist Lodge to observe NCC Foundation Day on 25 th November 2017. 30 girl cadets from Kurseong College and 30 cadets from RKMS along with Lt. Namrata Rai, ANO Kurseong College, T/O Sushma Chettri, ANO RKMS, Hav.Balwinder Singh PI staff 4 Bengal BN were present. The rally ended in GDNS Hall, Kurseong with cultural and felicitation programme. Shri. Bijay Sintury from Kurseong Sub-Divisional hospital was present as the chief guest.

NCC foundation Day 28/11/17: Under the initiative of 5 Bengal BN, NCC cadets observed Foundation Day in the college campus with varied cultural programmes. Dr. Samir Bal, Principal and Lt. Namrata Rai, ANO 4 Bengal BN graced the programme. Principal felicitated ex-NCC cadets for their contribution towards NCC. 60 cadets were present.

4 th International Yoga Day (21/06/2018): Twenty five (25) girl cadets from 4 Bengal Battalion participated in the 4 th International Yoga Day Celebration conducted by 4 Bengal BN NCC unit at Ramakrishna Girls Higher Secondary School, Kurseong. Besides practicing different yoga poses, they were enlightened about the various benefits related with yoga also.

5. Anti Human Trafficking Awareness Programme (MARG): 40 NCC cadets participated in the anti human trafficking awareness programme conducted by NGO, MARG.

6. Tree plantation: 35 NCC cadets took part in the tree plantation programme in the college.

7. Blood Donation Rally (25/03/2018) : 45 NCC Cadets participated in blood donation awareness rally organised by NGO Natures Friend Kurseong.

With the motto of ‘Unity and Disciple’, 4 and 5 Bengal NCC units of our institution started the session with fervent enrolment drive in the month of June. With the total strength of 100 cadets, both NCC units participated and organised various activities during the year.

1. Swachha Bharat Abhiyan (11/08/2018): The college compound was cleaned as a part of
Swachha Bharat Abhiyan organised by NSS and NCC units. All the students, teachers and
non-teaching staffs took part in this cleanliness drive.

2. 71 st Independence Day Celebration (15/08/2018): Seventy six (76) cadets from 4 & 5 Bengal Battalion NCC units participated in the Independence Day Celebration organised by Kurseong
Municipality at Monteviot Ground on 15 th August 2018. SergentDeepanjali Rai from 4 Bengal Girls Battalion created history as the first woman parade commander. Squad of 4 Bengal Girls BN
was lead by Cdt. Nikita Tamang and 5 Bengal Boys BN was lead by Cdt. Nehal Sunar. 10 NCC cadets participated as Guards of Honour and 2 cadets, JUO Banita Thapa and SGT Manisha Lama participated as Pilots in the programme. Associate NCC officer Lieutenant Namrata Rai from 4 Bengal was also felicitated for Director General NCC Award for Best ANO. The organisers presented tokens of appreciation to P.I staff from 5 Bengal Boys NCC, 4 & 5 Bengal units for their dynamic and disciplined participations.

3. College Foundation Day Celebration (17/08/2018): College Foundation Day Celebration was observed on 17 th August 2018 in Kurseong College. All the NCC cadets volunteered to organise this programme. Cadet Swastika Thapa was felicitated for her participation in the Introductory Snow Skiing Course organised by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism and Indian Institute of skiing and Mountaineering, Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir from 20 th March to 27 th March 2017. Cadet Divya Khati was also felicitated for her participation in Republic Day Camp 2017.

4. Medicinal plants plantation drive (11/09/2018): To create awareness about the benefits of local medicinal plants, NCC along with NSS unit of the college collected and planted 10 local plants with medicinal values. Saplings of Neem, Bojho, Golpatta, Banmara, Pudhina, Betlouri, Pankhanbet, Teetipati and Aluvera were planted by the Principal, teachers, NCC cadets and NSS volunteer students.

5. Talk and Speech Competition on ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ (17/09/2018): As a part of Swaccha Bharat Abhiya, NCC 4 Bengal Girls Unit organised Talk and Speech competition on ‘Swacchhata Hi Sewa’ on 17 th September 2018. 10 cadets from both boys and girls units participated and delivered their speeches on various facet of Swachhata (Cleanliness). Cadet Vishaka Singh and Cadet Debashish Thapa stood winners of the competition. Cadets Purnima B.K, Suparna Sewa and Rupen Pariyar were also given prizes for their outstanding speeches.

6. Anti Human Trafficking Awareness Programme by Kanchanjunga Sansthan (22/09/2018): Awareness programme on Anti-Human Trafficking was organised by NCC units in collaboration with Kanchanjunga Sansthan on 22 nd September 2018 in the College itself. 50 cadets attended the programme and lecture by Shri Sanjay Pradhan, member of Kanchanjunga Sansthan, Kurseong. A prolific discussion was made on Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the ways to identify human traffickers.

7. Blood Donation Camp (organised by Lions Club, Kurseong) 29 th September 2018: 25 NCC cadets participated in blood donation camp, organised by the Lions Club Kurseong on 29 th September 2018.

8. College Sports Day (12/10/2018) Football match: The Annual College Sports Day was held on 12 th October 2018 and NCC cadets participated in the football match with much energy. NCC boys’ team had Cadets Ronit Rai, Rojan Gurung, MD Tauyab, Manish Chettri, Rahul Joshi and Jiten Darjee. The team played with the sportsmanship spirit till Quarter finals. 1 st year NCC girls’ football team won the match in the women football category. Cadet Sikha Sewa won the ‘Player of the Match ’trophy.

9. Piping Ceremony of NCC Rank holders (13/10/2018): To encourage and prepare the next line leadership 12 cadets from 4 Bengal girls and 6 cadets from 5 Bengal boys NCC units were conferred ranks on the basis of their performance in academics and NCC activities. The event lightened up with zeal and enthusiasm as the cadets were conferred ranks by the Principal himself. The following cadets were conferred ranks for the session 2018-19:

10. Trekking and awareness walk on environmental protection (11/11/2018): Awareness trek for nvironmental protection from Tung via Bagora, Deorali, Chitrey to Kurseong covering approx 12 kilometres was trailed on 11 th November 2018. 45 Cadets along with Lt.Namrata Rai, ANO participated in this trekking event.

11. 70 th NCC Foundation Day Celebration (23/11/2018): 70 th NCC Foundation Day was observed on 23 rd November 2018 in the college premises. Along with vivid cultural programmes, 25 senior cadets and office bearers from 2012 -2017 were felicitated for their contribution towards NCC Kurseong College. Cadet Pragya Tamang and Cadet Utsav Mangar from 1 st year NCC were given trophies for Best Cadets. L/CPL Vishaka Singh and Cdt. Debasish Thapa bagged the Best Cadet trophies from 2 nd year NCC. Cadets Swastik Tamang, Akriti Bhujel, M.D Tayub Ali and Sulochana Chettri were awarded trophies for Best Drill. J.U.O Banita Thapa was given the overall Best Cadet trophy for the session 2018-19. The programme livened up with the presence of Principal, teachers and other taffs.

12. World Water Day (22/03/2019): World Water Day was observed by NCC cadets in the college. 5 cadets gave speech on the importance of water . 42 cadets attended the programme. The Principal, Dr. Samir Bal congratulated NCC cadets for observing water day.

13. NCC ‘B’ & ‘C’ Certificate Examination (February 2019): Total 24 cadets from 4 Bengal Girls and 13 cadets from 5 Bengal boys BN NCC have appeared for ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate examinations in the month of February 2019.

14. Camps: Camps are the integral part of NCC. Besides instilling the values of unity and discipline, cadets are taught leadership skills, personality development, civic esponsibilities and social awareness in such camps. During this session, 8 cadets attended pre Republic Day Camps, 47 cadets attended Combined Attachment Training Camps and 5 cadets attended Attachment Training Camps held in different parts of the country.

With the motto of ‘Unity and Disciple’, 4 and 5 Bengal NCC units of our institution started the session with fervent enrolment drive in the month of June. 60 new cadets joined NCC in 4 & 5 Bengal Battalions. Both NCC units participated and organised various activities during the year.

1. Tree Plantation Programme (30/07/2019): Tree plantation programme in the college campus was organised by both NCC and NSS units. 100 saplings were planted by the Principal, teachers, non-teaching staffs, students, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers. 52 NCC cadets rticipated in this programme.

2. 72 nd Independence Day Celebration (15/08/2019): Ninety Seven (97) cadets from 4 & 5 Bengal Battalion NCC units participated in the Independence Day Celebration organised by ndependence Day Celebration Committee, Kurseong Municipality at Monteviot Ground on 15 th August 2019. Cadet Swastik Tamang led the parade as parade commander. Lt. Namrata Rai, ANO was one of the member of judges panel for March past competition. Along with other dignitaries, Dr. Samir Bal, Pricipal, Kurseong College and Shri Manabindu Das, CTO, 5 Bengal BN graced the occasion. Sneha Mukhia Sunuwar from Kurseong College was felicitated for scoring highest marks in the University Examination in the college.

3. International Girl Child Day (18/10/2019): 5 NCC cadets joined the rally for International GirlChild in Kurseong town initiated by the members of Youth Against Trafficking Club, Kurseong College on 18 th October 201

4. College Sports Day (26/10/2019) Football match: The Annual College Sports Event was held on 25 th and 26 th October 2019. The final football match was held on 26 th October at St. Alphonsus’s School ground. Both NCC girls and boys team reached finale. NCC 2 nd year girls and NCC boys’ team won the final match. Cadet Swarnim and Cadet Ronit Rai were adjudged as the ‘Players of the Match’.

5. 71 st NCC Foundation Day Celebration (23/11/2018): 71 st NCC Foundation Day was observed on 30 th November 2019 in the college premises. Commanding Officer Col. Sanjay Singh of 5 Bengal Battalion graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Ex-NCC ANO, 5 Bengal BN, Dr. Rohit Sharma and Smt. Sharmista Guha, Ex-NCC ANO 4 Bengal BN and Shri Ganga Prasad Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Nepali gave their valuable presence as Guests of Honours. Along with vivid cultural programmes, the NCC cadets and officers expressed their gratitude
towards previous NCC office bearers by felicitating them.

7. B’ & C’ Certificate Examination : Besides regular camps, 11 cadets from 4 Bengal Girls BN appeared in ‘C’ certificate examination and 18 cadets appeared in ‘B’ Certificate examination held at Siliguri College in the month of February 2019. From 5 Bengal Battalion, 3 cadets appeared for ‘C’ certificate examination in Namchi.

8. Camps
Camps are the integral part of NCC. Besides instilling the values of unity and discipline, cadets are taught leadership skills, personality development, civic responsibilities and social awareness in such camps. Cadets attended and excelled in different special camps. Cadet Pragya Tamang, 4 Bengal BN won gold medal in Thal Sena camp held at Ghospukur. Cadet M.D Touyab represented 5 Bengal BN Kurseong college in Thal Sena Camp held at Delhi. Cadet Akriti Bhujel attended Shooting Camp at Asansol from 21 st May to 30 th May 2019. Cadet Vishaka Singh and Cadet Mona Sunwar attended Advance Leadership Camp in Kharagpur from 28 th May to 08 th June 2019. From 5 Bengal BN, Cadet Adarsh Sharma and Cadet Manish Kumar won first prizes in debate and drawing competition respectively in Combined AnnualTraining Camp held at Goshpukur from 3/07/2019-12/07/19. 4 Bengal Girls’ BN Kuresong College team won first prize in drill competition in CATC held at Army Public School, Sukna from 27 th December 2019-05 th January 2020.

9. Republic Day Celebration (26/01/2020)
30 NCC Cadets participated in the republic day parade held at NVF Ground Kurseong.

10. Pulwama Attack Anniversary Tribute (14/02/2020)
NCC Cadets along with other students, teaching and non-teaching staffs paid tribute to the brave martyrs who lost their lives in the horrific attack last year. Shri. Manabindu Das, CTO, 5Bengal BN paid homage to the martyrs.
